We’ve come a long way with Johann. The grave is filled. The mob is at the door. Lina stands alone with a pistol tucked beneath her shawl, and Heinrich’s fate hangs by a thread.

I know we haven’t reached the ship to America yet. The road’s been long. Some weeks we moved fast, other weeks we paused in the rain. And still, the real tension is only now beginning to crest.
