Yes, I do struggle with not writing too much to allow the reader to figure it out...and at times as you said in the cellar, it can leave some areas without enough emotional depth. It's a fine line. Chilling and tense—this chapter had me holding my breath. The writing is so vivid, I could hear the hooves and feel the floor creak. Masterfully done.
